We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Senior Legal Officer

Location: Victoria Island, Lagos
Employment Type: Contract

Responsibilities

• Liaise with the end users/ subsidiaries to establish their needs/ requirement and support in developing corresponding scope of work for contractual purposes.
• Verify Contract Terms & Conditions (standard, general and financial) and all other related documents.
• Carry out commercial negotiations in order to ensure award of best technical and commercially competitive Contract for Company.
• Participate in recommendations to award process through Contracts Committee and/or all other approval processes.
• Administer the award of contracts, contract amendments and provision of feedback to bidders.
• Drafts appropriate contractual and commercial terms and conditions to best serve and protect Company’s interests.
• Provide general assistance and professional advice to all users on contractual matters.
• Support end users to ensure variations in contracts are captured on time and prepare relevant approvals/ change orders/ variation order for submission.
• Prepare update reports on activities as required by Management and report any breaches of procedures to the GHLS.
• Maintain an accurate and complete file record of all calculations, material lists, costings, drawings, correspondence, and purchase orders.
• Ensure the company does not incur unnecessary loss of contribution due to non‐chargeable costs.
• Verify that the Contractual Policies and applicable laws and regulations are adhered to, especially related to ethics and transparency.
• Verify that procurement contracts and procedures comply with Company standards and the agreements with the partners.
• Ensure the application and respect of the procedures in the tender process.
• Stay abreast of contracts procedures and best practices to provide improvement of contracts practices in the Company.
• Perform all other duties as assigned by the Line Manager.

Requirements

• 5 – 9 years’ work experience
• BL / LLB, LLM (added advantage)
• Preferred candidate should have experience working in an Oil and gas company either providing legal advisory services or by acting as an in-house counsel.
• Experience working as a legal associate in a law firm is an added advantage.
