Special counsel appointed to investigate Biden’s retention of classified documents
US attorney general authorizes investigation of ‘whether any person or entity violated the law in connection with this matter’
The US attorney general, Merrick Garland, has announced the appointment of a special counsel to investigate the retention of classified documents by Joe Biden.
Speaking in Washington DC in the immediate aftermath of reports that more classified documents had been found stored at Biden’s home in Delaware, Garland said: “Earlier today, I signed an order appointing Robert Hur a special counsel.
