Sporting exercises contracts on Dia, Hernandez, Kinda, Russell, Smith
Sporting Kansas City brought its 2021 roster into greater focus when it exercised contract options on five players and declined to do so on four others Wednesday.
The players who remain with the club after having their contracts exercised are Amadou Dia, Felipe Hernandez, Gadi Kinda, Johnny Russell and Graham Smith.
Gone are Eric Dick, Wan Kuzain, Winston Reid and Richard Sanchez. In addition, Matt Besler is now out of contract with the club.
Sporting KC and Roger Espinoza, Gerso Fernandes, Felipe Gutierrez and Erik Hurtado remain in contract discussions.
Fifteen Sporting players were already under contract in 2021.
