Sporting KC to open home slate April 23 vs. Orlando City SC
Sporting Kansas City will open its home schedule season April 23 against Orlando City SC, the club announced Wednesday.
The home opener, which will begin at 6:30 p.m. at Children’s Mercy Park, will be Sporting KC‘s second match of the season, following the season opener April 17 at the New York Red Bulls.
FOX Sports Kansas City, soon to be Bally Sports Kansas City, again will serve as the television home of Sporting KC in 2021. The local television schedule and the full Major League Soccer regular-season schedule will be announced at a later date.
Sporting finished first in the Western Conference with a 12-6-3 record and a club-record 1.86 points per game in the abbreviated 2020 season. The club again will be managed by Peter Vermes, who is in his 13th season, making him the longest-tenured head coach in MLS.
