Stansberry, Hawaii beat D-II Hawaii Pacific 58-41
HONOLULU (AP) — Eddie Stansberry hit three 3-pointers and finished with 15 points and Hawaii beat Division II Hawaii Pacific 58-41 on Sunday night.
Drew Buggs had nine points, five rebounds and five assists for the Hawaii, which has won three games in a row and five of its last six.
Hawaii Pacific jumped to a 9-4 lead as the Rainbow Warriors (6-2) missed 11 of their first 13 field-goal attempts but they scored 23 of the next 29 points to open a 12-point lead early in second half. Stansberry had all his 15 points during that stretch.
Daniel Melifonwu and Jacob Foy scored seven points apiece for Hawaii Pacific.
The Rainbow Warriors, who shot just 39.3% (11 of 28) from the field in the first half, made 14 of 27 (52%) after the break.
Hawaii plays at No. 11 Oregon on Saturday.
