Twins’ Donaldson brought the rain to spring training

Josh Donaldson, Twins infielder (⬆️ UP)

Donaldson would be trending up solely for his new-look, bleach-blonde mullet he debuted at Twins camp, which made its first appearance on FOX Sports North last Sunday. But Donaldson also went yard in his first exhibition game, crushing a pitch to dead center field against the Rays.

Richard Pitino, Gophers head coach (⬇️ DOWN)

The Gophers men’s basketball team stumbled into postseason play, losing its last seven contests. Minnesota hasn’t won more than two consecutive games since December, so a deep run in the Big Ten tournament seems unlikely for Pitino’s squad. If the Gophers bow out early, Pitino’s seat is extra, extra hot at Williams arena. Minnesota tips off against Northwestern in the first round of the Big Ten tournament Wednesday.

Kevin Fiala, Wild forward (⬆️ UP)

Fiala lit the lamp for the deciding goal Monday in Minnesota’s 2-0 victory over Vegas, tossing five shots on goal against the Golden Knights. On the season, Fiala is averaging 3.6 shots on goal per contest, which ranks ninth in the NHL. If he can finish the 2020-21 season at that pace, Fiala would notch the highest shots per game average in Wild history since Zach Parise in 2013-14 (3.7).

Kyle Garlick, Twins outfielder (⬆️ UP)

Garlick is having quite the camp. An outside contender for the club’s fourth outfielder spot, Garlick mashed two dingers over his first two exhibition games, and added a two-hit performance against the Rays on Sunday.

Kaapo Kahkonen, Wild goaltender (⬆️ UP)

The Wild rookie notched his first career shutout Monday, stopping all 26 shots from the Vegas Golden Knights as Minnesota picked up an important 2-0 victory. The Wild have won their last seven contests with Kahkonen between the pipes. The 24-year-old has surrendered two or fewer goals in six of his last seven games.
