Twins officially add right-hander Alex Colome to bullpen
It’s (finally) official.
The Minnesota Twins signed right-handed reliever Alex Colome to a one-year deal Friday. To make room on the roster, the Twins designated right-hander Ian Hamilton for release or assignment.
More Twins coverage
Colome spent the last two seasons with the rival Chicago White Sox, logging a 2.27 ERA and 71 strikeouts in 83 1/3 innings. He registered 42 saves for the White Sox in that span.
The 32-year-old, who made his MLB debuted in 2013, has also suited up for Tampa Bay and Seattle. Colome owns a career 28-23 record, 2.95 ERA and 8.2 K/9 in 326 appearances (424 IP). His 138 saves since 2016 rank third in MLB.
Colome joins Tyler Duffey and Taylor Rogers as the main pieces in the Twins bullpen.
Additionally, left-handed pitcher Brandon Waddell, who was designated for release or assignment Thursday, cleared waivers and will remain in major-league camp as a non-roster invite.
Minnesota pitchers and catchers are scheduled to report at spring training Feb. 19. The Twins’ first spring training game is slated for Feb. 28 against Boston.
