Twins release 30-man roster for opening day

The Minnesota Twins released their 30-man roster Thursday ahead of opening day. The roster includes 15 pitchers, two catchers, six infielders, six outfielders and one designated hitter.

Willians Astudillo (COVID-19) and Jake Odorizzi (back) will begin the season on the 10-day injured list. Right-hander Jorge Alcala, catcher Tomas Telis and left-hander Caleb Thielbar will accompany the Twins on the road trip to Chicago as the three-player Taxi Squad.

Major League Baseball rosters will be trimmed from 30 to 28 after the first two weeks of the regular season.

Minnesota will open the 2020 campaign Friday night against the Chicago White Sox. The game will be broadcast on FOX Sports North with a one-hour edition of “Twins Live” beginning at 6 p.m.
