Upon Further Review: Wentz or Hurts? No problem for Packers
That had to be an enjoyable three hours of football for the Packer faithful.
Green Bay (9-3) moved one step closer to clinching the NFC North crown with a 30-16 win over the discombobulated Philadelphia Eagles (3-8-1).

Aaron Rodgers became the fastest quarterback in NFL history to throw for 400 touchdown passes and finished with 295 yards and three scores against the birds. Davante Adams was his main target as usual, catching 10 balls for 121 yards and two touchdowns while Allen Lazard (three catches for 50 yards) and Robert Tonyan (four catches for 39 yards and a TD) played well as secondary targets. Packers running back Aaron Jones made it a balanced attack with 15 carries for 130 yards and a touchdown.
Green Bay’s defense did exactly what it was supposed two against a struggling Eagles offense. The pass rush was constantly after Carson Wentz and Jalen Hurts, ending the night with seven sacks. Before Wentz was pulled from the game, the Packers held him to just six completions and made him look no different than he had played earlier in the season, which was – to put it nicely – bad.
Hurts was able to lead one touchdown drive early in the fourth quarter, but Green Bay forced the Hurts-led Eagles to punt twice and Darnell Savage closed out their final drive with an interception, so Hurts never really hurt the green and gold. In all, the Packers allowed just 278 yards of offense to Philadelphia.
Green Bay put together yet another dominant win and it looks like this team is rounding into form as we hit the final four games of the regular season. Sitting one game behind the New Orleans Saints, the Packers have a very real chance at the No. 1 seed in the NFC playoffs and right now they look like the most complete team in the conference.
Here’s a recap of Sunday’s game (STORY | PHOTOS):
PLAYER OF THE GAME
It’s getting old at this point, but Adams just keeps making plays.
He had his fifth 100+ yard performance of the season and that is after he missed two games earlier in the season.
Adams can do everything asked for from a wide receiver. He is a master at creating separation in the open field, go up to grab contested catches, and pick up yards after the catch as he did on his second touchdown when he trucked Eagles cornerback Darius Slay into the end zone.
Mr. 400. ?
Congrats to @AaronRodgers12!

DON’T FORGET ABOUT ME
Green Bay’s defensive line had quite a game and defensive tackle Kingsley Keke led the way with two sacks and four tackles
The Texas A&M product had just two sacks on the season coming into the game but took advantage of Philly’s dysfunctional offense to double that total. It was a group effort up front, with Rashan Gary and Za’Darius Smith each recording 1.5 sacks.
THAT MOMENT
This game was pretty much comfortably in the Packers’ grasp for most of the second half, but Jalen Reagor gave the Eagles life when scored on a 73-yard punt return with 6:30 left on the clock.
That made the score 23-16 Packers. Both teams traded punts after Reagor’s return and Green Bay eventually got the ball back at its own 20-yard line with 3:03 to go.
After a three-yard rush, Jones took a handoff up the middle and it was off to the races. He made a few guys miss in the open field, followed his blocks, and hit paydirt, icing the game for the Packers.

THIS NUMBER
400 – Rodgers threw his 400th career touchdown and became the fastest to do it in NFL history. It took him 193 games to accomplish the feat, 12 games quicker than it took Drew Brees to hit the same mark. Brees was the second-fastest quarterback to reach 400, doing it in 205 games. Just another incredible milestone of the legendary career of Rodgers.
THEY SAID IT
“I’m going to see if I can get to 500 before I throw 100 picks.” – Rodgers on about career milestones.
“The thing I loved about our team was that when it did get a little rough for us there was no panic, nobody blinked and we stuck together and we were able to finish the game.” – Packers head coach Matt LaFleur.
“I don’t know how he caught that.” – Rodgers on Adams’ 42-yard reception in the third quarter.
“We’re in a really good spot as a team right now.” – Adams on how the team is playing.
WHAT’S NEXT
Green Bay will go on the road to play the Detroit Lions on Sunday at 3:25 p.m. The Lions came back to beat the Chicago Bears 34-30 in Week 13. Detroit quarterback Matt Stafford threw for 402 yards, three touchdowns and one interception in the win.
