Generals clinch playoff berth, defeat Bandits 20-13 behind stout defense
The New Jersey Generals clinched a playoff berth, becoming the first team in the league to do so, following a 20-13 victory over the Tampa Bay Bandits. Luis Perez threw for 174 yards and one touchdown. Darius Victor rushed for 72 yards and one touchdown. Tampa Bay outscored New Jersey 10-3 in the second half but their comeback efforts fell short. Dravon Askew-Henry had two interceptions and the game-sealing pass break-up for New Jersey.
FOX Bet commercial manager Jacob Blangsted-Barnor predicted New Jersey would match up well with Tampa Bay as the Generals extended their winning streak to six games to clinch a playoff spot.
“The Generals and Bandits game sees the second-best scoring defense of the Generals facing the third-worst scoring offense of the Bandits,” Blangsted-Barnor said before the game. “The Generals are rightly favored, and low totals means a smaller spread than you may normally expect for a mismatch like this.”
