Vikings acquire WR Jalen Reagor from Eagles
The Minnesota Vikings are acquiring wide receiver Jalen Reagor from the Philadelphia Eagles, the two teams announced Wednesday.
Philly received a 2023 seventh-round draft pick and a 2024 conditional fourth-round pick that downgrades to a fifth-round pick if certain statistical marks are not met.
Reagor, the Eagles’ lone first-round selection in 2020, has reeled in 65 passes for 695 yards and three touchdowns over his first two seasons. Though the numbers were far below what Philly hoped to net from a 21st overall pick, Reagor appeared to make strides this preseason.
“I think when you look at Jalen, one of the things that one of our scouts said to me today is he was one of the only guys that practiced every day,” Eagles general manager Howie Roseman said Tuesday. “The guy brought it every day. He worked on his craft. He had a great attitude, great energy. Obviously, he’s a talented guy. He’s 23 years old.
“We’re going to do whatever we think is in the best interest of the team, and we felt like there was no doubt in our mind that he deserved a role on this team.”
Fast forward a day, and Reagor is now headed to another city to continue his playing career. The 5-foot-11 speedster will likely slot in at fourth on Minnesota’s new-look depth chart, behind Justin Jefferson, Adam Thielen and K.J. Obsorn. The Vikes had a vacancy following Bisi Johnson’s ACL injury.
Two years ago, the Eagles were desperately seeking help at receiver and chose Reagor one spot ahead of Jefferson, who subsequently blossomed into one of the best players in the NFL. Philly has since rebuilt its receiving corps with the likes of young stars A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith.
The Eagles cleared $1.82 million in salary with the move and opened a roster spot, which they appear to have used to sign QB Ian Book.
