Wheeling and dealing, Wolves add Bolmaro, McDaniels to first-round haul

According to multiple reports, the Minnesota Timberwolves, thanks to a couple of trades selected guard Leandro Bolmaro at No. 23 overall and Washington forward Jaden McDaniels with the 28th pick in the 2020 NBA draft.

Minnesota entered the first round with the first and 17th pick. After selecting Georgia’s Anthony Edwards with the top pick, Minnesota traded No. 17 to Oklahoma City in exchange for point guard Ricky Rubio and two first-round selections – No. 25 and No. 28.

Then, the Timberwolves packaged the 25th pick and a second-rounder (No. 33) to New York for Bolmaro, who was selected No. 23 overall by the Knicks.

Bolmaro played 16 games for FC Barcelona (Spain) last season and averaged 3.2 points, 1.4 assists and 1.0 rebounds per game. He shot 26.8% from the field and 19.0% from 3-point range.

The 20-year-old stands 6-foot-7 and weighs 182 pounds.

A top-5 recruit in the nation coming out of high school, McDaniels committed to Washington and played 31 games for the Huskies. The 20-year-old recorded 13 points, 5.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game while shooting 40.5% from the floor as a freshman.

McDaniels stands 6-10, weighs 200 pounds and has a 7-foot wingspan.
