General manager Bill Guerin sent the veteran goaltender and a 2022 seventh-round pick to San Jose in exchange for a 2022 fifth-round pick on Monday.
Dubnyk, who joined the Wild via a trade with Phoenix on Jan. 14, 2015, spent the last six seasons in Minnesota. He posted a record of 177-113-28 with a 2.41 goals against average (GAA), a .918 SV% and 23 shutouts in 328 career contests with the Wild from 2014-2020. Dubnyk ranks second among goaltenders in franchise history in games played (328), wins (177), and saves (8,470).
In 2019-20, Dubnyk registered a 12-15-2 record, a 3.35 GAA and one shutout in 30 contests for the Wild. He did not make an appearance in Minnesota’s best-of-five qualifying series against Vancouver in the postseason, riding the bench in favor of Alex Stalock.
It continues a busy offseason for Guerin, who has traded away Dubnyk, Eric Staal and Ryan Donato and announced he won’t re-sign longtime captain Mikko Koivu.
The Wild currently own six picks, including the No. 9 overall selection, in the 2020 NHL draft, which will be held virtually on Tuesday and Wednesday.
