Winning streak halted at four, as Badgers lose 5-1 to Michigan
The No. 7 Wisconsin Badgers men’s hockey team fell flat Saturday, losing 5-1 to eighth-ranked Michigan.
Wisconsin led 1-0 after the first period on a goal by freshman forward Mathieu de St. Paul, his second of the season. However, Michigan exploded in the second period with four goals, and the Wolverines added another late in the third.

Johnny Beecher, Luke Morgan and Cam York all tallied two points apiece for the Wolverines.
Wisconsin goaltender Robbie Beydoun stopped 15 shots and allowed four goals before being pulled after two periods. Freshman Cameron Rowe started the third period between the pipes for the Badgers and allowed one goal, notching 16 saves.
The loss halts a four-game winning streak for Wisconsin, which included back-to-back sweeps of Michigan State and Minnesota. The Badgers outscored their opponents 22-3 in that span.
Wisconsin returns to the ice at 4 p.m. Sunday to complete the weekend series with Michigan.
