Wolves officially acquire Ed Davis in trade with Knicks

The Minnesota Timberwolves sent Jacob Evans III, Omari Spellman and a 2026 second-round pick to the New York Knicks in exchange for veteran center Ed Davis.

Minnesota officially announced the trade Tuesday.

Davis, who stands 6-foot-9 and can play power forward and center, has played for six teams over 10 NBA seasons. In 668 career regular-season games, Davis has registered 6.3 points and 6.6 rebounds per game while shooting 56.9% from the field.

In 2019-20, Davis appeared in 28 games with Utah and logged 1.8 points and 3.8 rebounds in 10.8 minutes per games, all career lows. Davis, who has 33 career postseason games under his belt, did not see the court in Utah’s 2020 playoff appearance in the NBA bubble.

Davis joins Karl-Anthony Towns and Naz Reid as the three players who are expected to see time at center this season.

Minnesota acquired Evans III and Spellman from Golden State at the 2020 trade deadline. Evans III played two games for the Wolves, while Spellman never made his Minnesota debut.
