Yobe Traditional Ruler Suspended For Allegedly Raping Boy
Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, has indefinitely suspended Lawan Mari, the Ward Head of Fannami at Gashua town in the state.
The traditional ruler was alleged to have committed rape against a six-year-old boy in a community in Bade Local Government Area (LGA) of Yobe.
The Commissioner of Home Affairs, Information, and Culture, Mr Abdullahi Bego, announced the action taken against Mari in a statement on Sunday.
He added that Governor Buni has directed that appropriate administrative and legal measures be taken swiftly to investigate and prosecute the matter.
“The indefinite suspension of the ward head is pending the outcome of the police investigation into the matter,” the commissioner said.
He noted that the victim has been evaluated and treated by medical personnel at the General Hospital in Gashua.
